Blazon

A gold metal and enamel device 1-1/8 inches in height overall consisting of a hexagonal shield blazoned: Per pale papelonné Gules and Azure fimbriated Or, a demi-spearhead issuant from base of the last.  Attached below the shield a green motto scroll inscribed "TIP OF THE SPEAR" in gold letters.


Symbolism

Gold and cobalt blue refer to the colors of the United States Army Chemical Branch. Red illustrates courage and strength.  The scaled shield alludes to the dragon, a symbol of the Chemical Corps.  The spearhead emphasizes the destructive nature of chemical substance used in warfare.  Furthermore, the spearhead conveys a dragon’s tail.

The distinctive unit insignia for the 265th Chemical Battalion was approved on 12 April 2024.

Shield.  Per fess Azure and Or upon a hexagon throughout counterchanged a dragon rampant Gules, clawed and eyed Argent, pupil Sable, langued and winged Argent (Silver Gray), grasping a spear in dexter claw Proper.

Crest.  That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Georgia Army National Guard:  From a wreath Or and Azure, a boar's head erased Gules, in the mouth an oak branch Vert fructed Or.

Motto:  TIP OF THE SPEAR.

 

 


Symbolism

Shield. Cobalt blue and yellow are associated with United States Army Chemical units. The counterchanged hexagon is based on the branch insignia and characterizes chemical compounds. The dragon, a symbol of the Chemical Corps, signifies power. Its red and silver colors denote strength and intelligence. The spear represents the lethality of chemical weapons used in combat.

Crest. The crest is that of the Georgia Army National Guard.
